Go to meet George at a gig in LA we both were playing at. He is so nice. I asked him if I could take a lesson from him and he said he is a "Balladeer". he said some very nice things to me I will never forget. He said when he heard me play, it reminded him of Slyde Hyde. (I studied under him at the time:) I wish I could get in touch with him again. Thanks for doing the interview.
George is my fathers RIP best friends since the 1970s. I visited his home multiple times with my father and became best friends with George’s son. I met Stevie Wonder for the first time at George’s home. George has always been a peaceful guy. If you mention Rick Overton to George he might get chills and sorrow because not only were they best friend but my father was a masterful piano player with Jazz. It’s good to see George still well and alive.
GeoBo is a beast! If you check out any of the GRP All-star band recordings, you'll see he was the entire section. You don't need more than one if you have GeoBo!
Great interview with Mr. Bohannon. I was reading a Fred Wesley interview, I haven't finished it yet and Mr. Wesley said that he left James Brown to get into new things and moved to LA. He said that he could not get a single gig because George Bohannon had all the trombone gigs locked down. He said that was a rough time for him and he had to go back to Brown. FYI, my Dad would have been 83 at the time of this interview and he played snare in his high school marching band in Florence Alabama.

Thank you so much for this!! A huge fan of George, as well as your channel
It's my pleasure. George's knowledge is a gem hidden in plain sight.

The first solo I transcribed was George’s solo Blue Train!
Looking forward to Part 2. George is great. I can't find it. Has it been posted?
